Part of what makes Love Begins Here an incredible experience for our middle school student missionaries is the example of faith and service demonstrated to them by the Young Adult Core Team that gives of themselves throughout the summer mission season. Starting this summer, high school students who have an interest in growing in leadership and sharing their faith will have the opportunity to be directly mentored by and serve alongside this Core Team.
Introducing the Love Begins Here High School Missionary Intern program! This program is open to any rising Sophomores through graduating seniors in the summer of 2024 (current 9-12th graders). High school students will have the opportunity to apply for the opportunity to serve the mission of Love Begins Here alongside the young adult Core Team. Bringing their unique talents and enthusiasm for service, the high school leaders will have the opportunity to serve the middle school missionaries who will be attending LBH this summer. The high school students will get to experience the week of service while stepping up as leaders throughout the program. They will serve not only the homeowners during the work day, but will serve the participants throughout the entire mission week.
The Commitment
High School students will be asked to apply for this program and will conduct a Zoom interview with the LBH leadership team. Those that are accepted will be asked to commit to a weekend of training in early June alongside the Young Adult Core Team. This weekend will help prepare them both spiritually and practically for the responsibilities that will be expected of them for the summer mission weeks. The High school Leaders will then be able to choose to serve on 1 or more of the mission weeks offered for Middle school students in summer 2024. The ability to serve one or more weeks will depend on the popularity of the program and capacity considerations at the various mission host sites, but high schoolers will be guaranteed at least one week as a member of the Missionary Intern Team.
Duties
Ministry of Presence/Servant Leadership
Ministry of Support
Ministry of witness/Evangelization
Ministry of Prayer
Supervision
Missionary Interns will be under the direct supervision of the Youth Evangelization Coordinator for the Diocese of Green Bay as well as the Love Begins Here Coordinator. They will oversee training, formation, and supervision of the high school students. Interns will also work alongside the Young Adult Core Team and will have the opportunity to be mentored by them within the context of Safe Environment approved dynamics.
Who should apply?
Any high school student who wishes to help advance the mission of Love Begins Here who is willing to be trained and formed in the spirituality of the LBH Core Team. A dedication to service, encountering people where they are at and loving them as children of God. Past participation in LBH is encouraged though not required to be accepted into this program. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about their relationship with Jesus, their desire to share with others the joy of that relationship, and have a deep desire to serve others.
