**KREWE members are intentionally invited by their youth minister who has enrolled their parish in the KREWE process.

KREWE began as a response to parish needs for a leadership training for their high school leaders in the summer of 2017. Six parishes expressed interest in providing a "next level" experience where select high school students identified as leaders could grow deeper in their faith and learn methods in how to evangelize to their peers.
The name "KREWE" comes from the five pillars which provide the foundation for the training. The summer summit is based on these five pillars and provides students opportunities for self reflection, growth, prayer, and one-on-one as well as small group accompaniment. We invite each student to grow in these areas especially during this training:
  • Knowledge of Christ
  • Responsibility to the Community
  • Everything is Gift
  • Witness through Sacrifice
  • Evangelization to their Peers
Students receive training and formation all together during two times of the year - June and February. All students are expected to be at both experiences along with their youth ministers so as to unite and learn together!

If you're interested in learning more about KREWE, please contact the Diocesan Youth Ministry Office!

Students are hand-picked by the parish youth minister and attend a Sunday-Thursday summer summit at the end of June at Camp Tekakwitha in Shawano. Youth Ministers walk with their own teens during this time and have the opportunity to personally disciple their teens, challenge them, and pray with them. Students learn about the five pillars and have experiences which assist in incorporating the pillars into their own lives. We believe that relationships grow with time, so it is vital that the youth minister or assigned parish adult be present during the training. The parish youth minister is also involved in some limited pre-planning of this training. The training is delivered by youth ministers as well as student leaders who have already experienced KREWE.

Summer KREWE Topics Include:
  • Prayer (Introduction to Lectio Divina, Rosary, Mass, silent prayer, adoration, prayer with others)
  • Community Building (Canoe Trip, swimming, gender specific adventures)
  • Temperament quiz, discernment of their temperament
  • Learning some of the stories of the saints
  • Learning that each of us has a story (reflecting on their life, crafting a part of their witness, delivering their witness to another person)
  • Learning the basics of the story of the Gospel
  • How to evangelize in humility, growing personal relationships with those around you, being a normal human being, and when/how to introduce Jesus
  • Learning how to sacrifice and serve those around you

This experience is meant to be for leaders in your parish, so we ask that each parish only select a few students to attend KREWE. Students could be:
  • Those who are currently catechists, help with middle school ministry, or help lead high school ministry/youth group/mission trip
  • Those who have a desire to go deeper in their faith
  • Those that you have identified as having leadership traits
  • Those that are coachable, trainable, and open to growth
Invited students are not perfect nor do we expect them to have it all together spiritually. The training is meant to help the students grow from whichever point they are at currently.
